Program Description
The Diploma of Acupuncture with a specialization in Chinese Herbal Medicine program emphasizes the unified understanding of the mind, body and spirit inherent within the umbrella of traditional Asian medicine. Mastery of Asian medicine includes acupuncture as well as expertise in herbology. The University has gathered a faculty committed to academic and professional excellence and to teaching the extensive body of knowledge and skills necessary for safe and effective practice. Students will complete 216 units of in-class courses with lectures, quizzes, regular assignments and final exams. A hallmark of the program is its extensive clinical training. The training includes practical skills instruction and clinical observation, followed by a yearlong clinical internship during which student-interns treat patients in a variety of clinical settings under the guidance of expert practitioners. As they progress through the internship phase, the students assume increasing levels of responsibility for patient care, and ultimately learn how to practice as independent healthcare providers.

The mission of Golden State University is to improve the quality of healthcare within the local, national, and global communities by providing superior graduate education for future practitioners of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine that are integrated with Western medicine and Asian Medicine. The University is dedicated to enhancing the standard of professionalism in the practice and theory of fundamentals in Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine while also standing at the forefront of American healthcare to carry forward and develop medical treatment.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The Purpose of Golden State University program is to prepare students for a career as a healthcare provider and to develop their intellectual and analytical abilities by offering comprehensive education in Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Korean Herbal medicine and integrative nutritional diet The course of education prepares students to be independent practitioners who can perform in a variety of settings and to collaborate with other practitioners of integrative medicine.
EDUCATION OBJECTIVES

- Possess a solid foundation of knowledge of Acupuncture , Herbal medicine and Eastern medicine nutrition.
- Demonstrate a firm understanding of the etiology of disease from the Asian medical and biomedical perspectives and apply this understanding by recommending disease prevention strategies.
- Be able to evaluate patient complaints in a manner that indicates cognizance of all relevant Asian medical diagnostic paradigms.
- Be able to formulate treatment principles for patients that follow logically from the diagnosis to the treatment procedures.
- To expose students to acupuncture and herbal medicine, its origin, concepts, applications and philosophy as well as Western medical sciences and technology.
- Be able to communicate in a professional and knowledgeable manner about Asian medicine and biomedicine with relevant healthcare professionals.
